Abstract
Blown film extrusion is a widely used process for producing flat film. Key criteria indicating the quality of the extruded film include the absence of processing defects and its uniform thickness around the perimeter. Bottom-fed spiral core heads nullify the formation of joint lines and ensure a higher degree of uniformity in the polymeric flow. Replacing a side-fed head with a new bottom-fed head can often be impossible due to its high cost. Therefore, this paper focuses on upgrading the existing bottom-fed head by replacing its core with a spiral core thus improving the flow of polymeric material through the core, which has a key impact on the quality of the extruded film.
