Experimental tests of the tension of cargo securing belts in road transport

Abstract


Economic development forces an increase in the demand for transport services. In Poland, the dominant branch of transport is road transport, which accounts for over 85% of the weight of all transported loads. The increase in the number of delivery vehicles and trucks on the roads increases the threats to the safety of people, the environment and property. The key issue of the safety of the transport of goods is the proper securing of the transported cargo. The article indicates the risks resulting from improper securing of cargo. The method of testing safety belts in various environmental conditions is presented. The obtained results confirm the existence of a relationship between humidity and mechanical and rheological properties of the belts. The obtained results will be used to build a numerical model and simulate the lanes' behaviour in changing weather and road conditions
