Abstract

With the development of the aerospace and the automotive industry, there are growing demands for the increased productivity and the production efficiency. When machining progressive structural materials, high-productivity machining methods, including trochoidal milling, achieve excellent results.

Trochoidal milling technology is mainly used in roughing operations. The circular nature of the movement has a positive effect on the work process, productivity and cutting tool wear. By utilising the full length of the cutting edge, the amount of heat produced in the cut is reduced, while at the same time reducing cutting forces and spindle loads.

The thesis addressed the effect of cutting tool rectification on the force applied during trochoidal groove milling and the achieved surface integrity of the resultant surface. During the experiment, the changes in force application during machining with rectified cutting edge tools were demonstrated. The design of the experiment was based on DoE methods - analysis of cutting forces, which resulted in the development of the dependence of cutting forces on the parameters of the cutting process.
