Abstract

The article presents the results of research related to the measurement of the effectiveness of the dry ice production process with the use of a crank-piston pelletizer. To perform the measurements, the authors developed a proprietary measuring test stand. It allowed registering the amount of raw materials consumption, like liquid carbon dioxide and electricity energy, during the production process as well as the weight of the final product. The comparison of these values made it possible to confront the efficiency of the production process according to the die used. The research compared the currently used single-channel dies with those designed by the authors, using the evolutionary method. Due to the lack of standards allowing to standardize the measurement of the efficiency of the dry ice extrusion process, in the future a presented method can be used in the research and development works related to the extrusion process of dry ice and similar materials.
