Abstract

This article presents the methodology of selecting the geometric parameters of the drive system components with a flat belt conveyor made of steel. The present work demonstrates the change of the belt bending stress value as a function of the pulley diameter for different belt thickness values. The results of simulation analyses (Abaqus) have been compared with the guidelines recommended by belt manufacturers. The obtained results are usable in belt press design. The stress value in the belt cross section allows estimating the possible additional belt load to generate compressive force for materials undergoing compaction. The simulation results have been provided in the form of accessible graphs to facilitate analysis, with highlighted area of recommended application for the belt by the manufacturer.
