Abstract

Drive and conveyor belts are widely used in processing and mining industry. One of their types, which are often used in light applications, are the belts with round crosssection and several millimetres in diameter. They are often made of thermoplastic elastomers, especially a weldable polyurethane. Their production process requires the belt ends joining operation, to obtain a closed loop. This operation is often made by butt welding using the hot plate method. This process is often performed by hand using simple tools. Authors took an effort to design the automatic welding machine, which can make durable joints of this type automatically. The design works consist in i.e. control system configuration which needs the establishment of process technological parameters. For this reason, the research works on the hot plate welding process were taken. The main aim of this action was to formulate of the mathematical model of the hot plate welding of round drive belts, which is necessary to obtain the process parameters and the correlation between them. In the paper, the assumptions for the hot plate welding process modelling were presented. During their formulating, technical conditions were taken into consideration, which is results from some properties of the automatic welding device prototype, which had been implemented for industry production.#s3gt_translate_tooltip_mini { display: none !important; }#s3gt_translate_tooltip_mini { display: none !important; }
