Abstract

Abstract. Belt conveyors intended for transporting materials and products, are used in many branches of industry. They are used to transfer both delicate elements - glass, heavy - cans with food or lightweight cartons. For this reason, conveyor belts are not only required to fulfil the drive function, but also to transport the material under the right conditions, while ensuring the greatest possible belt lifetime. Belts made of homogeneous material are not always able to provide the specified requirements. In this case, composite construction belts are used. They consist of a layer responsible for carrying the load of the belt and a material bound with an adhesive that changes the properties of the surface layer. As part of the doctoral thesis in preparation related to the adhesive bond between the belt's composite materials, tests on the materials included in this bond were performed. Specimens for tensile strength tests were taken from: the carrier part of polyurethane toothed belt, polyamide fabric and polyurethane foam used as a belt coating and polyurethane adhesive used as a bond. The differences in parameters characterizing the surface properties in terms of hardness and roughness were also checked. Based on the research, material and strength properties of the tested components were determined and the resulted differences were analysed. The results obtained allowed to draw conclusions and guide further research.
