Abstract


This study deals with investigation of cutting process dynamics during grinding of ceramic materials and their comparison with grinding of hardened bearing steel. The measurement was carried out by the use of dynamometers, accelerometers as well as acoustic emission techniques in order to analyses the process dynamics in the different frequency ranges. The grinding process was studied as a function of variable removal rates. The results of investigation indicate that the different matrix of ground material affects stability of grinding process as a result of the different mechanism of chip separation and the corresponding interaction in the interface between grinding wheel and workpiece.
