The determination of the value of rolling resistance coefficent of a passanger’s vehicle with the use of chosen road methods

Abstract


Wide range of research methods, both laboratory and road ones of determining the rolling resistance coefficient make it necessary to look for an efficient method of estimating it.

Obtaining varied values of this coefficient depending on assumed calculating model influence both the quality and quantity assessment of cooperation processes tire-surface. The article presents two experimental methods of determining the rolling resistance coefficient. Road research was carried out with the use of method of free rolling on a flat surface as well as method of vehicle free rolling downhill. The value of rolling resistance coefficient for each of the road method was calculated in three ways. It enabled to compare the chosen research methods and calculation models with the ones available in other sources. The laboratory method with the use of rolling road dyno is described in the article.
