Abstract

Magnetorheological elastomers are an important field of research for non-classical engineering materials. These are intelligent materials whose physical properties depend on the applied magnetic field. Such a unique ability allows for proposing new, innovative practical applications. Therefore, it is important to conduct research into the applications of magnetorheological elastomers in mechanical engineering. The article presents the results of research on the properties of these materials subjected to compressive stresses. Particular attention was paid to the observed increases in the surface area of the mechanical hysteresis loops, which indicate the possibility of changing the damping properties of magnetorheological elastomers. This feature can be used in the construction of various types of machinery and devices, which include mainly energy absorbers, such as active vibration dampers.
